Ruth M. McCarty grew up in Prospect, Connecticut with seven siblings. She now lives in Central Massachusetts, with her husband Dan. She enjoys spending time with her granddaughters, Sophie, Drea, and Lilly, and grandson Rocco.

She has published short mysteries in UNDERTOW, RIPTIDE, WINDCHILL, SEASMOKE, AND STILL WATERS: CRIME STORIES BY NEW ENGLAND WRITERS, by Level Best Books.

Her flash fiction has earned her honorable mention in Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine and NEWN (formerly New England Writers' Network).

She's currently working on her "Missing" series featuring P. I. Madison James.

She is the President of the New England Chapter of Sisters in Crime and a member of Mystery Writers of America. She’s also a founding member of the New England Crime Bake, a mystery conference.

Ruth is the Assistant Fiction Editor of NEWN, a quarterly publication devoted to helping writers around the world to get published and to teaching through content and example.
